With an ExtraCash account, you can set yourself up to have extra money on hand when you need it. You can deposit up to $500, and the account offers an overdraft service that allows you to get money, if eligible. Think of it as your solution for unexpected expenses.

If you need access to additional money when you’re running short, we got you covered. Get  ExtraCash from Dave by overdrafting your account up to $500, if eligible. You could put it toward your next grocery run, a patch for that popped tire, or even a trip to your cousin’s wedding.

There’s no interest, credit check, or late fees. Eligibility criteria apply.

It’s for anyone who wants a hand covering everyday spending, emergencies, or can’t-miss opportunities. We designed the overdraft service to help out when you need a little extra. Then simply settle up on your due date.

To view if you're eligible for ExtraCash: In the Dave app, tap on the ExtraCash tab. You will be shown if you are eligible for ExtraCash and the amount. The amount you are eligible for will be valid for 24 hours. Each day, the amount could change.

If you're eligible for ExtraCash:

  • From the ExtraCash tab, tap Get cash.
  • Select where you'd like to transfer the ExtraCash. 
  • Review the agreement page and accept the terms. Be sure that you can settle the ExtraCash balance on the settlement date.
  • Success! Your funds will be on their way via the transfer method selected.

ExtraCash is built to give you what you need within what you can pay back. We use a proprietary underwriting model using a mix of financial health factors to find an amount that can help you out of a pickle without putting a deeper hole in your pocket.

To turn on these notifications:

  • Navigate to your settings ⚙️
  • Scroll down and tap Notifications
  • Toggle ON ExtraCash push notifications and/or text messages (SMS)

To view the most recent status on your ExtraCash, navigate to the ExtraCash tab and tap Haven't received your transfer yet? You'll see details on your money, including where the funds were transferred and when you should expect to receive them.

You can choose to transfer your ExtraCash:

  • To your Dave Checking: Ready in your account in seconds and ready for you to spend with your Dave debit card.
  • To your external debit card: Ready within 1 hour. An express fee applies.
  • To your external bank account: Receive your ExtraCash within 3 business days, fee-free.

Once you take your ExtraCash, the amount, transfer destination, and speed of the transfer cannot be changed.
